The Greene County Development Corporation (GCDC) executive committee voted unanimously Jume 4 to name Michelle Book the interim director. Book will serve in this role as GCDC transitions to a new leadership model following Ken Paxton’s departure effective May 30.
Book stepped down as Food Bank of Iowa CEO at the end of 2024. She is a 1979 graduate of Jefferson High School, past winner of the Tower Hall of Fame award, and most recently the facilitator for Vision 2030 planning. GCDC will restart Vision 2030 efforts once new leadership is named.
GCDC is exploring several options which include searching for a replacement executive director, joining a regional alliance, and merging with a similar non-profit. GCDC is intent on finding a solution that optimizes economic development success while maximizing return on member investment.
Since its inception the mission of GCDC has been, “to cooperate in the active development and implementation of programs and activities to expand and diversify the economy of Greene County, through the attraction, retention, and expansion of businesses”.
